New twilight run to shine in Milawa vineyards

A new running event set for next year is set to bring together a mix of runners, wine lovers and the local community under the setting sun of the King Valley.

Fit City Events has announced the launch of Vineyards Twilight, a brand-new running event set amongst the vines of Milawa in Brown Brothers Winery, supported by local partners including Sam Miranda and John Gehrig Wines.

The event, scheduled for 21 February, 2026, offers three distances to suit all abilities – a half marathon, 10km, and 5km – all showcasing Milawa’s wine country charm and a festival-like atmosphere once runners hit the finish line.

With the half marathon boasting just 35m of elevation gain (and the 10km course even flatter), Vineyards Twilight is set to become one of Australia’s fastest and most scenic twilight running events.

Fit City Events head of events Matt Morris said organisers wanted to create an event that captured the magic of running through vineyards at sunset, paired with the region’s famous hospitality.

“Vineyards Twilight is about more than just the run – it’s about experiencing the beauty of Milawa, the incredible wines, and the community spirit that makes this area so special,” he said.

At the finish line, runners will be treated to wine, live music, and festival-style food and entertainment, creating an atmosphere that celebrates both achievement and the unique character of the King Valley wine region.

Brown Brothers tourism and hospitality operations manager Georgia Beavis said the winery were thrilled to host the running festival.

“Events like this bring fresh energy to the King Valley, inspiring people to explore, stay longer, and discover all our region has to offer,” she said.

“They boost local tourism, support regional businesses, and create lasting memories for participants and guests alike.”

Rural City of Wangaratta Council events attraction coordinator Elisha Naish said the event was set to showcase the Milawa-Oxley Gourmet region’s beauty and community spirit.

“Council is proud to partner with Fit City Events in 2026 to bring the Vineyards Running Festival to life,” she said.
