After a seesawing first quarter, Avenel allowed their hosts to gain some momentum.
By half time, Towners coach Brad Gleeson called for more commitment and intent at the contest, while Avenel coach JD Delaney delivered a strong message to his players.
The Swans then lifted in the second half and ran out 89 point winners.

Violet Town utility Tim Ross rotated between attack and defence and reflected on a frustrating outcome.
“We had that last quarter fade out,” Ross said.
“Some lack of accuracy meant we weren’t able to put any scoreboard pressure on them.”
Avenel co-captains Jack Myers and Tim Durdon impressed, earning praise from Delaney.
“Jack and Timmy stepped up, they were sensational,” Delaney said.
“We got back to what we know.
I think defensively in the first half we weren’t on the same page, so I asked them to go back to basics and follow our game plan.
We’re not done yet.”
