WANGARATTA'S baseball and softball community is set to benefit from a $350,000 grant through the Victorian Government’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund (RCSIF), supporting an LED lighting upgrade at Targoora Park.
This investment will enable the Wangaratta Rangers Baseball & Softball Club, North East Baseball Association, and Albury Wodonga Softball League to host more evening training sessions, competitions, and female-focused events.
The project is one of nine initiatives in this funding round specifically aimed at increasing female participation in sport, with a total of $5.5 million allocated to support women and girls across Victoria
It also aligns with Council’s Fair Play and Gender Equity Plan (2025–2027), which focuses on removing barriers to participation and promoting inclusive sporting environments.
Mayor Irene Grant said it is a great outcome for our local clubs and the broader Wangaratta community.
