Bowman Performance Genetics - by cattlemen, for cattlemen

EXCITING opportunities await beef producers at this year’s Bowman Performance Genetics Bull Sale, at Neerim South on Thursday March 14.

“By Cattlemen, for Cattlemen” , captures the true purpose of Bowman Performance Genetics’ seedstock production.

Stud principal and seventh generation farmer, Glenn Bowman, has been breeding bulls for thirty years, complementing his family’s commercial operation at ‘The Ridge’, Rosedale.

He believes in sourcing and developing highly profitable genetics, to produce a market-focused product.

The balanced approach adopted by Mr Bowman – incorporating the science, whilst producing fit, sound bulls - is resonating within the market.

Interest continues to grow with major players and industry leaders from large commercial operations, with in excess of 120 bulls sold annually.

This year’s top-priced bull, along with several from the draft, were sold to South Australian operation, Princess Royal Station, run bythe Rowe family.

Situated North of Burra on the vast open plains, the 28,000 hectare business was looking to source bulls with significant breed-plan performance data, whilst not being over-prepared.

“2024’s sale draft will raise the bar to an even higher level,” said Mr Bowman.

Gippsland’s largest sire line-up achieves an increasing Angus Breeding Dollar Index Value, whilst adding thickness and carcass content.

Generations of cattlemenship are backed by the latest science, incorporating genomic profiles on the entire female herd.

Professional breeders require current and accurate breeding information to drive business performance, and they are reassured animals are parent verified.

“It’s a significant investment, but genomic testing can highlight every aspect of that bull's breeding - from calving traits, to growth and lucrative carcass qualities,” said Mr Bowman.

80 plus bulls will be available for inspection on-property at ‘Crystal Brook’, Neerim South, during Beef Week, 2024.
