AUSSIE music duo Peking Duk is expected to spend some time in Wangaratta this week, courtesy of local teenager Kai McPhan.
The 15-year-old Cathedral College student, who emailed the group asking whether they would play at his party, was shocked earlier this month to see the ARIA Award-winning Canberra duo post his letter to their socials and ask followers whether they should, in fact, DJ at Kai's event.
Peking Duk members Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles suggested that 50,000 likes for the post would see them 'suit up' for Kai's party.
While the like-count didn't quite reach that point, the goodwill generated by the idea apparently prompted the group to agree to the request regardless, and they are expected to make an appearance at Kai's year 10 formal.
Comments on Peking Duk's initial post commended Kai's well-written email, particularly his "kindest of all kind regards" sign-off, and his offer of the use of his sister's speaker for the event.

Further promotion on Nova FM late last week, when presenter Lauren Phillips read the letter - which Hyde described as "a sweet request" - to the band while they were in the studio, gave the story more life.
Styles joked that the post about Kai's request had attracted "10 times the likes we've ever had before".
Among those who commented on the latter post was 'Sunrise' co-host Natalie Barr, who said, 'Yes, yes, yes' - perhaps suggesting a future appearance from Kai on the Channel Seven breakfast show.
Cathedral College Wangaratta principal Nick Jones said the school was very proud of Kai and his ingenuity in setting up the connection.
"Kai's idea is being well-supported by the college," Mr Jones said.
"We support his initiative and courage in reaching out to the group, and the students are very excited; it's the talk of the town."
Mr Jones said he had even asked Kai for a selfie this week, such was his celebrity status.
Peking Duk is expected to spend some time with the teen and his mates before and after the exclusive gig.
