What do you look for?
I'm judging best original car, and I'm looking for something that I would like to take home or steal.
But it doesn't have to be concourse, it has to be original.
What does concourse mean?
Concourse means that they've restored it back to original factory specs and that the chequebook didn't matter, just do it with the chequebook.
The ones I like, they've been driven; they're used quite often.
What about their duco?
They're not necessarily needing perfect paintwork, but they're the original paintwork, not necessarily repainted – that detracts a little.
What’s the qualification?
We're not experts in, you know, knowing the individual cars, but we just know what we sort of like and that's the sort of criteria that we adopt.
That's what they tell us to, tell us the criteria we should use: it is just what we like.
What is your expertise?
Just that I'm a great bloke.
Do you have a car background?
Yes, we've got a few classic cars and bikes and we have shown them here before but won nothing.
What do you put that down to?
The judges in those days weren't very clever - or not at all.
Should we print that?
Sure.
