Rural City of Wangaratta councillors moved to endorse nominations of volunteers to committees of management for a period of three years for two local halls.
These are additional community members who have requested spots on Carboor Memorial Hall and Recreation Reserve and Whorouly Public Hall Library committees of management.
The appointed nominees were announced by Cr Harvey Benton, and included Christine Chalmers, Colin Walker, Jenny Steer and Barbara Griffiths for Whorouly Public Library Hall, and Susan Box and Trevor Jenvey for the Carboor Memorial Hall and Recreation Reserve.
Cr Benton thanked the committees for the work they do.
“I was at the Whorouly Public Hall Library last week and it is tremendous how much pride they take in their facility,” he said.
Cr Harry Bussell said these volunteers treat these assets as their own.
“They take great pride in looking after these council assets and I wasn’t to thanks them for their passion that they pit into help out community," he said.
All appointments to Community Asset Committees are made in line with council’s policy governing appointments to council committees.
The Community Asset Committees control, management and maintenance of council owned community assets and uphold council’s requirements under the Local Government Act.
