A large group from the Wangaratta RSL Active program, arranged by Active coordinator Vicki Bear, visited the grounds of the Wangaratta Clay Target Club on Saturday, 11 October to try out their marksmanship skills at this fun activity.

RSL Active is a program that includes veterans, their families and first responders and promotes various activities for their enjoyment and introduce members to new skills and interests.

Several members of the club provided their firearms and supervision to ensure that everyone had a great time having a go at clay shooting that some of the group had not experienced before.

Each participant shot at 25 clay targets and their ability to connect with the target certainly increased after the first few shots.

Among the group were people from Wodonga, Springhurst, Beechworth and Wangaratta.

It was very satisfying for the club to meet each person and provide some basics on gun safety and how to use a shotgun correctly.

By the end of the session it was evident that some of the less experienced shooters were looking very comfortable with their stance and general gun handling techniques.

The Wangaratta Clay Target Club is confident that everyone had a very enjoyable outing and interest was expressed from some about revisiting the club to have another go and hopefully consider taking on the sport in the future.
