BRIGHT COUNTRY GOLF CLUB

As the Golf Guru lives up life on a resort island holiday the rest of us just play golf at Bright. What a week you have missed Golf Guru.

The 12th year of the Bright / Myrtleford Challenge was played out on 13 October in picture perfect conditions at Bright.

We welcomed 36 players from Myrtleford and 39 players from Bright to contest the bragging rights for the year to take home the Silverware.

It was a medley Stableford event for the 75 men and women who represented their respective clubs.

NTPs: 3rd Linda Loftus (Myrtleford), 6th Bernie Wickes, 11th Cameron Wickes, 16th Ian Wales (Myrtleford).

Balls went to Linda Loftus 35, Jan Harper 34 C/B, Lizzie Orton 34 C/B, Marnie Broz 34, Robert Taylor 33 C/B, Faye McLees 33 C/B, Andrew Robertson 33 C/B (Bright), Andy Armstrong 33 (Bright), Stephen Grogan 32 C/B (Bright), Nick Moschis 32 C/B (Bright).

Winners on the day were Helen Mummery (33) 39 C/B, Angela O’Shaughnessy (18) 39, Ann Hazeldine (40) 38, Don Grimes (25) 37 C/B, John Forbes (20) 37, Heather Street (45) 36, Cameron Wickes (1) 35 C/B, Ian Browne (25) 35 C/B, and Marg Curtis (21) 35.

The total number of Stableford points scored by Myrtleford was 1058, which averaged out to 29.39

The total number of Stableford points scored by Bright was 1133, which averaged out to 29.05

The overall results from the two rounds of the challenge culminated in Myrtleford taking home the trophy by 4.65 points.

Congratulations to Myrtleford who were a sea of pink with the Myrtleford ladies taking over the winner’s circle. Bring on 2026.

The Wednesday Ladies played the first round of their Club Championships.

A grade winner: Lauren Velicki (22) nett 69. Runner Up Robyn McGrath (21) nett 72.

B grade winner: Di Anders (30) nett 74. Runner Up Elizabeth Barker (27) nett 76.

Ball winners were Carol Burgess and Julie Englert.

A field of 30 played a Stableford event on Thursday, four players played above their handicap.

Winners were Cameron Wickes (1) 39C/B, Neil Gill (22) 39, Craig Thompson (15) 37 C/B.

Ball winners were Paul Duff (18) 37, Dean Melloh (43) 37, Dennis Pangrazio (28) 34 C/B, Troy Stevens (14) 34 C/B.

The NAGA went to Butch Thomas (25) with a miserable 12 pts.

The winner of the IGA chicken went to Neil Gill with 19 pts.

Friday Medley 9-hole Stableford competition had a field of 12.

Saturday was an Open Stroke round and the final round of the Men’s Club Championship.

A field of 55 players took to the course.

MOUNT BEAUTY GOLF CLUB

The Men's Monday league played on Monday, 13 October which was won by Trevor English with 37 points from Fred Gerardson with 34 points.

The Men played the back nine on Wednesday, 15 October which was also won by Trevor English with 17 points on a countback from Peter Hertzog, Roger Church and David Griffiths-Brown.

NTP on the 17 was Ben Ritson and on the 18th was Trevor English.

A Stableford round was played by the men on Saturday, 18 October which was won by Sam Bakes from Thurgoona GC with 35 points on a countback from Ben Ritson.

Balls were handed out to Al Randell, Andrew Greenfield and Allan Retallick with 34 points, and Trevor English and Dave Browning with 32 points each.

NTP on the 7th, along with the Tatts Ticket from the Tawonga South Newsagency & Post Office, was Darcy Fallon.

The 9th was Rick Biesboer, 17th Andrew Greenfield while Allan Retallick took the money on the 18th.
