In round one of the Midweek Pennant the Myrtleford Bowls Club’s top team which had been promoted to the A1 level from the previous year, fell short of their promise when they were beaten by YMGCR at home.
With an overall score of 37 shots to 81, the best performing rink was Mick Dwyer with Royston Smith, Adrian Villella and Mark Simpson 15 – 22.
On the other rinks Lance Symons team lost 11 – 29 and Greg Robbins rink 11 – 30.
In the midweek B1 competition, against Swanpool at home, a commanding performance by Les Brown’s team meant that the losses of the two rinks could be absorbed with an overall score of 79 to 56.
Brown with Bev Griffith, Pippa Laspina and Graham Piazza scored 41 shots to 12.
Lindsay Hamiton’s team were pipped at the post going down 18 – 19 and Col Smith’s rink lost 20 – 25.
Round two of the Weekend Pennant saw Myrtleford A1 travel to Lavington where they were beaten 79 to 86.
Mick Dwyer, Rod Mitchell, Geoff Dyt and Wayne Stephens played a spirited game where they won 23 shots to 20.
Marino Candusio group managed to win with 20 to 19, Peta Matty’s team lost 19 to 22 as did Greg Robbin’s rink 17 to 25.
The weekend B1 team travelled to St James where they won 60 shots to 54.
Jeffrey Stagg’s side won their rink convincingly.
Stagg with Jon Dunell, Greg Pepyat and Matt Dunell won 25 to 15 and Graham Burrington’s team succeeded 21 to 11 while Lindsay Hamilton’s rink struggled and failed losing 14 – 28.
The weekend B2 side were beaten by YMGCR at YMGCR 47 – 78.
Best rink was Pauline Clearson, Gerry Green, Norman Vonarx and Kylie Britt 18 – 21. On the other rinks Pippa Laspina’s Team lost 17 – 31 and Phyllis Swindley’s rink 12 – 26.
