Junior footballers and ring-ins had their night of nights on Wednesday 16 July as Longwood Football Netball Club hosted a junior football clinic with Collingwood stars Jamie Elliott and Beau McCreery.

The clinic was part of the Longwood FNC's commitment to developing their junior ranks for the future.

Elliott, who was drafted to Collingwood in 2012, grew up playing junior football with the Euroa Magpies, debuting in the senior side at the age of 17.

Beau McCreery grew up in South Australia and played for South Adelaide until drafted by Collingwood to debut as a Magpie in 2021.

Longwood president Rick Shiner said the kids loved the opportunity to learn from such a stellar duo.

"We had to put a limit on the numbers, but ended up with seventy kids that night - it was huge," Shiner said.

"They came from far and wide, from Euroa, Avenel, Benalla, and even Kilmore.

"An opportunity like is hard to get, so we made the most of it."

Elliot and McCreery then hosted a Q&A for both the juniors and a swarm of adults who had descended on the club for the night.

Jamie Elliott's father played for Longwood in the 1980s, and although McCreery is from a distant land, he may be tied to Longwood for some time, according to Rick Shiner.

"Beau said he couldn't wait to play at Longwood when he retires from Collingwood."
