A GRADE

Playing in their third consecutive A Grade Grand Final, the Ellie Warnock-coached Euroa side took to the court high on confidence after their comprehensive team effort the previous week.

Their task was a daunting one, facing the undefeated 2025 Shepparton Bears, a club yet to claim an A Grade netball premiership in their history in the Goulburn Valley League.

Olivia Morris, fresh off her 1000th career goal the week prior, was dominant from the outset, with Mia Sudomirski and, later in the game, Sami Kreltszheim providing strong support in the goal circle.

The Pies matched the Bears goal for goal throughout the first quarter.

The second quarter proved decisive, as the Bears piled on 19 goals to Euroa’s six, opening up a match winning 14 goal lead at the main break.

Mid courter Sophie Owen and vice captain Eliza Hoare combined well with league runner up Best and Fairest Hollie Reid, moving the ball down the court with pace and precision.

Defenders Ellie Warnock (GK) and her cousin, team captain Kellie Davidson (GD), faced a tough challenge against the league Best and Fairest Goal Shooter, while the Bears Goal Attack had a standout performance herself.

With a 17 goal lead going into the final quarter, it was always going to be difficult for the Pies to stage a comeback against a high quality Bears side.

The Magpie faithful, many wearing their pink EFNC hats, held hope that the team could claw the margin back to within five goals, but the gap proved too large.

The Bears ran out convincing winners, claiming their first ever A Grade premiership in the Goulburn Valley League.

The club is incredibly proud of the Pies for consistently putting themselves in contention for end of season success.

As the off-season begins, the team will take a well earned pause before preparing for an exciting 2026.

Coaching and player announcements will follow in the coming weeks - watch this space.

SCOREBOARD: Euroa Magpies 41 defeated by Shepparton Bears 62.

B RESERVE

Having qualified for their very first Grand Final appearance at this level a fortnight ago, the Sophie Owen-coached B Reserve side were eager to make their mark.

Nerves were evident in a slow start against a Seymour side making their third appearance in as many years, with the first quarter ending 15–4 in favour of the Lions and a lead that was concerning, but far from insurmountable.

Euroa lifted in the second quarter, outscoring Seymour 12 goals to 8 to reduce the half time margin to just seven.

Captain Sienna Trotter gave her all, while Bree Poole and Megan O’Bree handled the big-game pressure with composure.

Young gun Alice Ludlow impressed in Goal Defence, with some positional changes allowing Ella Hill to showcase her skills at Goal Shooter in the second half.

Tej Sutherland and Keely Wright made their presence felt in numerous defensive contests.

Special mention must go to Lily Meehan, Jade Evans, and Anika Sutherland, whose consistent contributions throughout the season helped the team reach the finals.

Ruby Fowler underlined her potential as a future star with a polished mid court performance, while Abbie Ellis continued to shine in black and white, delivering another standout season and grand final effort.

Demi Walker, the team’s spiritual leader, inspired her teammates from the first whistle to the last.

Despite the ebb and flow of a highly competitive contest, just as Euroa looked poised to reduce the margin to within five goals, Seymour found another gear to stretch their lead.

Entering the final quarter nine goals down, the task proved too great for the Magpies.

While the scoreboard did not reflect the closeness of many passages of play, the Euroa B Reserve side can be immensely proud of their achievement, making the Grand Final from third place.

The teamwork, enthusiasm, and connection between these players and their coach bodes well for the future.

SCOREBOARD: Euroa Magpies 29 defeated by Seymour Lions 45.
