Ross Wilson said “Baby wants to Rock” but in Euroa it is a case of “Bowlers want to Roll” as we prepare for the opening of the 2025-26 season this Saturday.

There has been extensive work on the Burton Green surrounds, and the greens will be in sensational condition for opening day.

A big thank you to all for their efforts in this regard.

If you intend to bowl, please add your name to the list on the board and bring a plate for afternoon tea.

We welcome several new bowlers to the club this year, including Annette Barkley, Mick Mitchell, Sandy Holmes, and Shane Holmes, with Andy Houston returning as well.

We also have a few new social members, and there is a positive vibe around the club.

This season we are again fielding three sides in both mid week and weekend pennant for Divisions one, three and four for mid week, and Divisions one, three and five for weekend.

Kyabram has moved to greener pastures, which means we no longer have to travel as far to play pennant.

Our board comprises Bill Sargood (President), Brian Bamford (Secretary), Greg Blatchford (Treasurer), along with Doug Maconachie, Libby Byrne, Shane Drysdale, and Ray Day.

Weekend selectors are Peter Naughton, Doug Maconachie, Shane Drysdale, and Bill Taylor, whilst the mid week selection panel comprises Libby Byrne, Jim Perry, Greg Blatchford, and Bill Taylor.

We also have a club coach this year in Bill Taylor and we thank him for taking on this role.

There is no doubt that Bill will be able to assist us all as we aim to improve our games and is particularly interested in helping new members and bowlers.

It has been noted that Rolex may be a bowler to watch this year.

However, it is possible that seconds may need to step up as bowlers of the hour, given the push for live scoring in Division one.

Whatever happened to “if it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it”?

We have been getting great numbers at the club on Friday nights.

Social bowls were held last Wednesday and Saturday.

On Wednesday, 17 members bowled, with the evergreen Ken and Anne Sutcliffe winning on shots up, whilst on Saturday 18 participated, with Jezza, James Dunn, and Beryl Harris winning also on shots up.

Nifty 50 numbers are filling fast, so get in before it is too late.

Memberships need to be paid by September 30.

Payments can be made at the GMCU or at the club.

Finally, all clubs depend on the support of sponsors, and we thank all who have assisted us over the years.

This week we acknowledge Cellar and Harvest and our FoodWorks and LiquorWorks outlet located at 25 Tarcombe Street, Euroa.

They are open from 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 9pm Sunday.

Get along and see Bernie, Courtney, and their friendly staff for all your grocery and liquor needs.

All the best and bowl well.
