A tight tussle at the top in section one highlighted a picture-perfect day at Merriwa Park on Saturday for the second round of Wangaratta Lawn Tennis Croquet and Pickleball Club aggregate competition.

Six sections of five players each played out the day and there was barely anything in it at the top with Kevin Callahan narrowly edging out his competition with a score of 21-19 in section one.

Not far behind was Brian Scobie (21-20), Mark Brown (20-18) and Andrew Lindner (19-19) while Ryan Patterson (17-22) rounded out the section.

Mandy Allen held a more comfortable margin in her win in section two with a perfect 24 games for, which would be replicated by Jason Tan in section three and Mark Gorman in section four.

Gorman would dominate section four with a score of 24-8 while Tan and Allen both finished on 24-14.

Ashley Weston would be next best in section two on 21-15 while Mason Scholes finished with 2014 in section three and Pat Flynn was runner-up in section four with 18-16.

It was a tighter competition in section five with Joel Eulenstein winning just enough games on 20-14 to hold off Sartaj Bal (19-13) and Alan Busk (19-15).

Max McAuliffe (17-18) and John Shanley (9-24) would round out the section.

It was similarly close at the top in section six with Terry Flynn winning in a highly competitive section six with a 23-14 score.

Carl Cutrona (22-19) and Cate Gerard (20-17) would put in a good challenge while Tony Clarebrough (17-23) and Sue Piper (14-23) filled out the bottom two places.
