Saturday’s weather was best suited to ducks, not footy or netball, but that didn’t stop the mighty Redlegs travelling to take on Nagambie at Lakeside Oval.
By the end of the day, the “lake” was no longer just beside the oval, it was on it.

The under 13s brought a great attitude, reflected in a tighter margin than their previous clash with Nagambie.
Avenel Café Best on Court: Tilly Clayton – stuck tight to her opponent and kept arms up all game.
Coaches Award: Imogen O’Brien who stepped up from under 11s and slotted right in.
UNDER 15s
Came out fired up and finished with a hard fought seven goal win.
Avenel Pharmacy Best on Court: Zahara Johns for her brilliant defensive reads and constant pressure.
Coaches Award: Hanah Taylor-White who implemented training drills beautifully.
UNDER 17s
The under 17s played with intensity in a close contest, eventually going down by just one goal.
A huge effort, with several under 15s stepping up and shining.
Jaclyn Symes Best on Court: Zahara (under 15).
Coaches Award: Hayley (under 15).
Mad Dog Award: Willow.
C RESERVE
C reserve came out flying, keeping Nagambie scoreless for the first five minutes through relentless defensive pressure.
Later changes improved attacking flow, but Nagambie proved too strong.
Inbound Aviation Best on Court: Carly Murphy.
Coaches Award: Meg Shiner.
C GRADE
Despite cold and wet conditions, C grade started strong and led by six at quarter time.
Nagambie adjusted and took control in the second half for a 14 goal win, but the girls remained composed and committed.

Tactical position swaps brought new energy to a match filled with fresh combinations and fire.
Jippo Angus Best on Court: Keynan for her dominance in goal defence with relentless pressure.
Coaches Award: Serena who shut down opposition attacks in wing defence with those long arms.
A GRADE
A mighty team effort in difficult conditions.
The team held strong in the first half until Nagambie’s key player stepped on court and changed momentum.
Still, Longwood stuck to its game plan and walked away proud.
Seeka Australia Best on Court: Stevie was dominant in the ring and full of confidence.
Coaches Award: Tamee is our centre court machine, everywhere at once with intercepts and drive.
Wicked game A and B grade and we should be proud of it.
You all came off smiling and that’s what matters.

UNDER 10s
A tough, wet Friday night clash against Shepparton East.
Despite the elements, commitment and energy remained high.
North East Vic Landscaping Award: Harper.
UNDER 12s
Did not hit the scoreboard but showed major improvement against one of the top teams in the competition.
Eastern Seaboard Shearing Best on Ground: Blaire, Rob, and Elisha.
UNDER 15s
Short on numbers and size again, but full of heart.
Jac Roob tackled hard all day and worked in tandem with captain Coops, while Coen Allison impressed down back.
Done Shovelling Award: Coen Allison.
UNDER 18s
Faced a big and structured Nagambie side and kept fighting in difficult conditions.
Astral Systems Best on Ground: Iziah Wilson who continues to impress since joining a month ago.
RESERVES
A brilliant performance.
With a more relaxed lead in, the group was switched on from the first bounce, keeping Nagambie goalless early and dominating throughout.
White Hart Hotel Best Players: Nathan Reeves, Hayden Cartwright, Shaun Bridges.
SENIORS
The seniors adapted to the swampy conditions superbly, applying early scoreboard pressure.
Jordon Bullman and Patto handled the mud like pros, with Jye everywhere and Baz offering calm leadership.
