In honour of Landcare Week on August 4-10, the Gecko Community Landcare Network (Gecko CLaN) is inviting all kitchen maestros to enter into the annual Gecko CLaN Bakeoff on Thursday August 7 at 10am at its office at 72 Bridge Street, Benalla.
The event has a second reason for tempting tastebuds and the judges’ eye, with the community group also celebrating the opening of its new community space.
Landcare facilitator Alana Mountain said all member groups of Gecko CLaN and their friends were welcome to bring their best ‘cake game’.
“Each group is encouraged to enter at least one cake,” Ms Mountain said.
“Think farm dams, whole farm planning, nestboxes, and Dianella-inspired delights.

The winning cake will take home a nestbox.
“We can’t wait to see (and taste) what people come up with, so join us for a fun, tasty morning of community connection, creativity, and cake.”
Cakes entered by 10am, judging starts at 11am.
