Euroa FNC celebrates season at 2025 presentation night

On Friday September 26 the Euroa Football Netball Club wrapped up their 2025 season with its presentation night.

Club President Scott Watson welcomed all to the evening and outlined the format for the night.

A pause in proceedings at this point to acknowledge the A Grade and B Reserve teams making the grand final the previous weekend.

Although both sides unable to get over the line on the day the pride the Euroa supporters have in their girls in making this final match of the season was palpable.

Further, the B Grade team were celebrated despite being unable to defend their 2024 premiership as they fell short by one goal in the preliminary final.

The club also recognized 15 under netball team also making finals, rounding out a wonderful start to this presentation evening for all those present.

With more than 110 people in attendance the players, their families, supporters, members and sponsors enjoyed the evening and are already looking forward to the 2026 season.

The club wishes to acknowledge the many sponsors and trophy donors that help support the individual honors across the three grades of football and five grades of netball throughout the night.

Thank you to all who supported the club through 2025.

The 15 and under trophies were presented first by Coach Tayla Robinson (congratulations to Tayla as she was again a recipient of a nomination for Youth Coach of the Year):

Congratulations to senior football coach David Gleeson.

The Basil Bruce ‘Spirit of Magpie’ award for unwavering volunteerism was awarded to Stasia Martin (Saturday canteen/catering), Christine Gleeson (Saturday canteen/catering) and the Ramsden family (Saturday BBQ).

A significant section of the evening followed with the presentation of three life memberships.

Up first was Katie Williams – Katie played more than 250 games for her beloved Magpies between 1984 and 1998.

Katie is a multiple best and fairest winner across both the A (four times) and B (five times) Grade netball sides in her time as a player.

Katie has both her boys playing football at the club and has recently joined the club committee and a very deserving recipient.

Kelly Hill was then awarded life membership at Euroa FNC for her contributions to the club since 2010.

Kelly had played 123 games for Shepparton United, winning five A-Grade best and fairest awards before her time at Euroa began.

Since 2010, Kelly has played a further 234 games for Euroa in the GVL and has led Euroa FNC in many different ways.

As senior coach, senior assistant coach, junior development coach, junior coach, committee person and umpire coordinator to name a few.

Kelly has been an integral part of two B Grade premiership winning teams (2019, 2024) and was A Grade assistant coach in their 2024 premiership winning year.

Kelly has won another five A Grade best and fairest awards in her time at Euroa FNC and in recent times has won another three B Grade best and fairest awards (including 2025 and three in a row for this team).

Kelly has won league best and fairest awards, best on court in a grand final and is someone whose passion to develop others has allowed Euroa FNC netball to flourish.

The third Life Membership for the evening was then presented to Lindy Meehan. Lindy’s association with Euroa FNC began in 1983 as a 15-year-old playing under the likes of premiership coach Donna Harper.

Lindy played more than 170 games for Euroa FNC with her last game in season 2000.

Lindy has been involved at committee level for an extensive period having been the Netball Committee President in the mid 1990’s for a number of years.

In recent times her involvement on the EFNC Committee has included a lengthy stint as club treasurer (2018-2024) with 2025 seeing her take on the club secretary role.

All those present were delighted to be able to congratulate these three on their very well deserved life membership awards.

The senior XVIII football awards were next.

Coach Dave Gleeson gave a short run down of the 2025 season and thanked all for the opportunity to coach at the club.

The Club doesn’t function without volunteers, and we are lucky to have some of the best in the GVL.

On that note, please mark in your calendars the AGM which is set for Monday 24 November, 7pm at the Memorial Oval social rooms.

Nomination forms for the 2026 EFNC Committee are available from the office at Burton’s IGA in Euroa from 20 October, 2025.
