Chateau celebrates another year of milestones

WHILE 2023 was a 40 year celebration for John and Bev and Andrew and Jenna McIntyre of Chateau Limousins and their stud breeding history, 2024 also marks another milestone for the stud with their 10th annual on-property-sale at Londrigan via Wangaratta on Thursday March 7, commencing at 1pm.

Coinciding with this milestone, Tuesday January 30 will also the see gates open at Londrigan for the 10th Stock and Land Beef Week open day.

"We are more than happy to walk you through the upcoming sires on offer at our sale," said stud principal, John.

"Black, polled and the traditional French pure bulls will all be on offer."

Also on the day there will be a diverse range of females from joined heifers to cow and calf units displaying future sires, and the McIntyre’s cattle that will be offered at this years Limousin National Show and Sale.

As the breed and the general beef industry has evolved with new technologies and breeding data available, Chateau is implementing the use of DNA testing along with utilising Breedplan and the combination of international and domestic sires.

To find their place in the Chateau herd, cattle must exhibit strong breeding data, be easy handling and keeping, free moving, with a soft hair and skin type.

"This year's bull draft will see several sires with calving ease at the lead end of the breed for those joining young females," said John.

"Along with those high growth, big weight gain bulls, for those wanting to target top class vealers through to heavy grass-fed export programs."

Visitors are always welcome to inspect the sale animals that Chateau will offer at their on-property sale, as well as the Limousin National Team by appointment.
