The community is invited to tune into a free online event on Tuesday, 19 August from 6:30pm to 7:30pm as Swamps, Rivers & Ranges discuss with AgVic the pests and weeds which may become a threat to the North East area in a changing climate.
Attendees will hear from Alastair Campbell, engagement officer from AgVic and his colleagues, covering which pests and weed threats locals should be conscious of and how these are moving throughout Australia, or are at risk of being introduced into the North East Victorian region.
There will also be plenty of time to ask questions.
Swamps, Rivers & Ranges project coordinator Sophie Enders said it's important for locals to join the discussion about emerging threats "because ultimately it will be the locals who notice when and where new species or weeds enter the region".
"If our locals are aware of the emerging threats then they will know what to keep an eye out for," she said.

"This vigilance and knowledge on what species are of concern means that anyone in our community can contribute to the safety of our region."
Ms Enders said by knowing what species are on the radar of concern, land managers and property owners can familiarise themselves with the ID of these species and so be able to both manage and notify if these species appear.
"Early recognition and response can be the difference in a quick response and early control vs a larger and more damaging problem," she said.
"We'd love to see locals jump on and join this conversation and prepare for what the future may bring to our region.
